Can you suspend your DIRECTV account if you are currently under a 2 year contract?

Can you do this if you are under a contract, I have about 8 months left on it.|||Naz has a good answer, but I still recommend saving money we cancelled and now only pay 14.99 a month for tv we got a roku player and signed up with Netflix and hulu and gets lots of tv cheaper and it's all on demand so we never miss anything unlike cable or sat tv it's a built in function for no extra money|||How do I put my DIRECTV Service on hold?
