Why does Yahoo bother to suspend accounts when they can make a new account anyway?

If someone gets suspended, they can easily just go create another account. What's the point of suspensions?|||Only just recently have the Y!A team started cracking down on users posting from multiple accounts... based on the IP addresses. They have had to develop new tools to keep track of these users to combat Spam. As it turns out, Spammers are the biggest threat going on right now, with thousands of accounts being created to spam Y!A, and tens of thousands of spam answers being added to the system ever day. So, the team has developed new tools to track and tie all these accounts together.

So, as annoying as it is for someone tho has violated the guidelines and gotten suspended for it, to have created a new account and be bragging about being on their 2nd or 3rd or 7th account... the team behind Y!A is far more worried about the people with 100 accounts each, spamming up the boards.

This is not to say that the people with two or three accounts are in no danger of being uncovered. This is not to say that the people with suspended accounts and new accounts are in no danger of being uncovered. This *IS* to say that these people are living on borrowed time, as the new automated tools trace and keep track of accounts and IP addresses.

Yahoo bothers to suspend accounts because at the moment, that is their way of letting people know they have broken the rules one too many times. People who decide to ignore the suspension, and create more accounts to continue to break the rules are only forcing the team behind Y!A to get more creative.

Not seeing activity against this, is not the same as nothing being done.

end of line|||All i will say is it's amazing how they always look the other way when users who harass/stalk others users or when users post disgusting nasty questions or those who troll %26amp; call out other users but they have plenty of time to go after those who don't break any guidelines don't bother or harm anyone or post harmless questions.|||Yahoo probably hopes people will eventually get tired of getting their points back|||yahoo hope that eventually people will get sick of starting over and follow the guidelines.|||i guess they think it will keep us in line.|||Ikr|||Then you lose all your points. =( Its stupid anyways.|||because they like to annoy us by making us earn all of our points back again.
